Givenchy Beauty Ads

I've spoken about their perfume advertisements but I didn't want to squeeze in my thoughts on their beauty ads on the same blog.

So here we go

I'm a massive fan of these. I just want to see them more often. I understand that the beauty and make up side of this brand isn't the their main selling point but their ads are just so beautiful and to the point. It makes me sad that aren't more of them. They are so clean cut. It's like they've looked at other premium make up brands and stripped away all of the gimmicks. It's like they've looked at MAC and Dior and said " That's pretty BUT..." and then they produce these beautifully clear and high contrast images.

In all honestly, I feel as though I'm not really being led on with these beauty ads. I always question MAC's integrity because they adjust their contrast so much when you go into their stores and swatch the colours you've seen in the campaigns sometimes they don't match up. Looking at the Givenchy beauty ad, you see what you are going to get. They seem to specialize in pastel colours for the eyes and bold lip. I know that they've been adjusted in post production but they look believable.

They like to use models who are what I'd call English Rose beautiful. You know what I mean? Like classically beautiful. Which again, falls into the ethos of the brand. Considering that Audrey Hepburn was a muse for such a long time. It's nice to see that they are sticking with this kinda theme.

After looking at these images, I've decided that I'm going to have a white backdrop, shoot with at least a Canon 700D because I need the skin to look flawless. I think that the 700 makes the skin look better. For lighting I'm going to go with a beauty dish and I feel this distributes the light well across the skin. I'm wanting to go for a high shine, but making it look natural so I'll be using a variety of different highlighters.
