Before Steven Klein entered the world of photography, he was formally trained in Fine Art, with a concentration on Painting. He began his photographic career in the early 1990s in Paris, before moving to New York City, where he lives and works today. His epic narratives appear in magazines such as W, American, Italian, and French Vogue. His innovative and creative approach to art has surpassed the world of photography and has allowed him to publish books, create video installations for concerts, and direct commercial pieces, while continuing to remain at the forefront of image making. Steven has had solo exhibitions at Deitch Gallery and Gagosian Gallery.(Anon., n.d.)
During our Contextual Studies lectures, I heard this man's name pop up accompanied by a few of his photographs and it was just something that took my interest.

You can't say his photos are unoriginal. Again, it seems like I have this eternal love affair with high contrast photos. I've seen his work before it's placing it. After watching the NARS video I thought: "This kinda reminds me of Lady Gaga's Alejandro video"
And guess who directed that...
(Lady Gaga - Alejandro 2010)
There's no denying that all of these images are highly sexually charged, but they're a form of art nonetheless. I think his type of photography would work well with a collection from Gautier.
While this might be to everyone's taste you can't help but appreciate the art behind this. Everything is so clean and precise. I'd want to try and do a editorial with a slightly toned down version. I think that it would look really good in i-D magazine.
God, I love photography. I think I've fallen into a rabbit hole.
