Chris told us last week that we were to create something really different and he wanted us to get creative with the shoot. The girls instantly see the Purple Colourama and are like "WE NEED THIS" Begrudgingly I agree just to get a taste of what we are getting ourselves into.

Using honeycomb lights, you get a really soft light that isn't too harsh and it gives a nice glow to where it's lighting. I really like the idea of lighting the hair with a honey comb light. It shows you the texture of the hair without the harshness of a spotlight.

We introduce colour gels, because they love colour. We start by just using a red gel and lighting from one side. We don't want to get too artsy, build up slowly, review the photos we have and then make adjustments accordingly.

Chris just appears, like he normally does and has a gander at out photos we've done so far. He looks fairly impressed, but then does that thing that he and Sharon must have become in sync with. He does he head tilt and says "That's cool, now change it up" They look at me like I'm supposed to know what to do. I stand there for a minute and suggest we light the colorama instead of the model. This was just a whim, but I have to say I'm pretty chuffed with the outcome. The effects we created were really cool. They reminded me of the No7 advert that's on the tv at the moment. With all the really brightly coloured backdrops. We created gradients by holding the gels partially over the lights.

The next set of photos really upset me because for the life of me I can't remember how we lit the background. It was at this moment Harriet and Megan wanted to create a similar photo to this for their No7 campaigns. They both picked Megan as their model then and there. I was then given the task of making her laugh for the photos. Being such a hilarious person, it's fairly easy right? Not when you're put on the spot and expected to make someone laugh. I jokingly ask if I could be put down as the comedian on the call sheet.

The below picture of Harriet are pretty cool. I hate the colour yellow, so when we used the colorama I suggested we light it with some red gels. Basic colour theory. I think these are pretty cool. Harriet has a warm skin tone so I think this compliments her skin tone and makes her skin look nice.

We light the white wall with red gels and they use me as a model. It's then Chris comes back to see how we've got on this session. He then starts showing us how we can adjust the contrast setting in CaptureOne. (I mean, I'm personally terrified of it but of a bad experience) The girls say I look very Illamasqua. I think they look nice. I like the contrast. GO TEAM PALE.
