Givenchy S/S 2016

Givenchy S/S 2016

Now, I'm not a fashion au fait person. I've started to appreciate it as art more than clothes. I'll quite happily sit and watch footage of couture fashion shows because I love the gowns. I worked in a made to design wedding dress shop so I can truly appreciate the craftsmanship behind each design.

So I'm sat here in my Panda onesie, Sex in The City as background noise while looking through Givenchy's latest creations.

I have to say, the run way looked beautiful. It had such an elegance to each design. I hate to admit it, I really like them. I mean, I love black clothing but with satin and lace. I'd be buying all of the nice things. I'm currently kinda rocking the shabby chic in the right colour scheme...

However, I'm not really a fan of the campaign images. I'm feel as though they aren't showcasing their designs as well as they could be. They just look as though they could have shot this in a grand palace instead of the back of a van. I just didn't really think it fitted their brands heritage and ethos.

I'm a massive fan of photos that are taken backstage. I just think you get a more natural feel of the clothes and how they actually sit because no one lopes around like the gazelles that model the clothes. I just think that it's nice you get the sneaky peak of the people behind the clothes.

The make up for this collection seems to very plain, almost not there. I love the sheen to the skin so it looks so shiny and refreshed. I want to incorporate this in my make up design for my advertisement.

I've taken a lot of inspiration from this collection, notably the highlight and the fresh looking skin. I've also looked at their perfume and make up campaigns from years past and used that to give me a guideline.
